Jo Ann Allen is the creator and host of Been There Done That. Recent podcast collaborations include Death, Sex & Money with Anna Sale and AARP’s Take on Today about inspiring older people to get into podcasting.
She started her journalism career in 1975 at The Capital Times newspaper in Madison, WI, and began her extensive experience as an audio journalist 2 years later at Wisconsin Public Radio in Madison.
Jo Ann worked at United Press International, ABC Radio Networks, United Nations Radio and various news organizations in New York City before spending 18 years as a news anchor at WNYC/New York Public Radio.
She’s also worked as an anchor at KPBS Radio in San Diego, WHYY Radio in Philadelphia and Colorado Public Radio in Denver.
In addition, Jo Ann taught radio journalism as an adjunct professor at Long Island University in Brooklyn where she served 7 years on the committee that chooses the recipients of the George Polk Awards for Investigative Journalism.
She’s a columnist for The Denver Post, voiceover artist and screenwriter.
